This is a Digital Connection which works well with HD. This one cable carries digital video and digital audio. There are some problems with this connection. HDMI uses copy protection. The two devices must communicate before the connection will be turned on. If they do not correctly communicate there will be no signal. There are also compatibility issues. I had a HP plasma TV that connected to a Motorola Cable box and it got a picture but no sound. This is a good example of a compatibilty problem.
This connection carries digital video but no audio. It also works well for HD.
This is an analog connection compatible with HD. This system uses an RCA photo plug for video, typically green, blue and red.
This is an analog connection which is not compatible with HD.
This is a digital connection which can carry multiple channels.
This is also a digital connection which can carry multiple channels. This uses RCA Photo Connector, usually orange.
Analog Audio is carried by two RCA Photo Plugs, usually white and red.
This is a screw on cable. This provides a much better connection than the push on RF connector.
This is a push on cable. Although common, I do not recommend this type of RF connector. The screw on RF connector provides a more stable connection.
